Contents of Pb, Cd, Hg, As, Zn and Cu were determined by standard methods in samples of gooseberries, blackcurrants, redcurrants, bilberries, stawberries, raspberries, plums, cherries, leeks, broccoli, rhubarbs, kales, cauliflowers, Brussels spouts and string beans harvested in Poland in Lublin region during 2001-2005. The highest Pb concentration were found in plums (0.289 mg/kg) and the highest Cd concentration were in cauliflower (0.077 mg/kg) but most of the determined cadmium and lead concentrations in fruits and vegetables were substantially below levels associated with human health risk. As, Hg, Zn and Cu levels were low. Publication presented also historical legislation changes outline, that took place in Poland during 1993-2005
