2006
Gacic, D., Sumarski fakultet, Beograd (Serbia)
The aim of this paper is to assess the relation between meteorological elements and trophy value in the field hunting grounds of Vojvodina (Serbia). The study material consists of 1,309 trophies hunted in 7 hunting grounds in the region of Potisje during the period 2000-2003. The trophy value was the highest in the hunting season which was preceded by the most favourable climate conditions for the growth and development of new antlers and vice versa. The study results show that some meteorological elements affect significantly the populaion vitality, which is phenotypically reflected on the trophy value and leads to the deterioration (or to the improvement) of the trophy structure. Consequently, the temperature increase during the new antler growth period has a positive effect on their structure and on the trophy value, while the increase of the number of days with snow cover has an adverse effect and leads to the deterioration of the trophy structure.
