Limiting factor for production at most trout fish farms, especially the big ones, is insufficient amount of water during summer and autumn. This causes oxygen deficiency for rainbow trout that is a fish with high oxygen demand. In Serbia, trout is reared only at trout fish farms. Oxygen deficiency can be overcome using different oxygen enrichment methods: at overflows between raceways of two batteries, using aerators for introducing air into water and dissolving pure oxygen. The mutual characteristic of all types of aerators is mixing water with atmospheric air that is as well a defect. A more efficient method is introducing of pure oxygen into water. Machines with active mixing are much better than machines with passive mixing. After selecting a good machine for aeration or oxygen enrichment, it is necessary to precisely calculate the amount of oxygen deficiecy to maximize money saving during production. Good choice of machines is, certainly, a condition that enables a fish farm to operate with full capacity.
