Cutting is the first operation in hay, silage, haylage production or green mass utilization. Different types of mowing machines, such as oscillatory or rotary, with or without conditioning machine, are using for biomass cutting from natural and sowed grassland. Oscillatory mowing machines require power from 2-2.5 kW/m of cutting width and with work speed from 5 to 10 km/h. Rotary mowing machines require larger power from 20 to 22 kW/m of cutting width with speeder movement and capacity. Conditioning machines built-in mowing systems contribuite in speeding of biomass drying process to 50%. Using of appropriate chemical, additionally contributes of drying process speeding and provides decreasing of nutrients losses in hay, silage and haylage making process.
