The paper reviews the results of a two-year study on yield and quality of dry matter (DM) in five recently developed alfalfa synthetics. Under favourable soil conditions and increased rainfall during growing seasons, three cuts were performed in the first year and five in the second. The average yields were 12.48 t/ha DM and 23.65 t/ha DM, respectively. The achieved dry matter quality was very good, resulting in high contents of crude proteins (203.1 g/kg DM on average), crude cellulose (227.3 g/kg DM) and NFE (375.8 g/kg DM). In addition to high quality of dry matter, the studied synthetics also had a high energy value (NEL 5.48 MJ/kg DM). In the year of establishment as well as in the year of full utilization, yield level and dry matter quality were condirably affected not only by genotype, environment and genotype x environment interaction.
