One of the urgent problems of commercial pig breeding is the development of measures to control anemia in pigs. In experiments on 7 offsprings of newborn pigs a new chelate complex was tested – copper tyrosinate compared to ferrodex. Ferrodex at the dose of 1.5 ml was administered to piglets of the control group at days 3 and 7 of life, to the experimental ones – only at day 3, copper tyrosinate at day 7 – at the dose of 1.5 ml. The state of hemopoiesis was estimated by hemoglobin, erythrocytes and hematocrit. An analysis of protein fractions was determined in 18-day-old pigs by polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis. Сopper tyrosinate had a stimulating effect on hemopoiesis with maxim expression at day 15 and promoted an increase in resistance in the organism of pigs. Copper tyrosinate promoted considerable mobilization of iron from depot, while the content of copper in livers of experimental pigs did not change. It is concluded that copper tyrosinate in combination with ferrodex have prominent antianemic properties and activates metabolic processes in pigs. It is recommended for use in veterinary practice for treatment and prophylaxis of anemia in suckling pigs.
