In the zone of severe radioactive contamination of soils with cesium-137 the efficacy of probiotic Bifinorm and prebiotics Vetelact and Frodo was studied in terms of correction intestinal microflora in calves with diarrhea induced by rotaviruses and Escherichia (serovariants O9 and O33). Bifinorm given to drink at the dose of 200 ml twice a day per 1 calf suppressed fully the growth of serovariant O33 Escherichia coli for 2 days and has a bacteriostatic effect on O9 reducing 100 times the Escherichia density. The therapeutic effectiveness of the probiotic was 81.1% with treatment time 4.15 days. All the calves that had diseased had the reduced content of E. coli – 7.14 lg CFU/g. Their populations comprise a lot of atypical forms with decreased fermentative activity and lactose-negative. The number of bifid bacteria corresponded to the normal one – 9.13 lg CFU/g in 66.6%. In the aftercare of calves Vetelact and a mixture of Vetelact and Frodo (lactulose and sodium salts of fatty acids) were used at the dose of 10 ml per head for 2 months with intervals of 10 days promoting the normalization of Escherichia populations and stabilizing their fermentative activity. The frequency of releasing stable populations of bifid bacteria was 100%. Prophylactic and growth-stimulating effects of bifidogenic additives Vetelact and Vetelact-Frodo were 100%, and the average gain when fed for 30 days - 470 and 450 g, 60 days – 670 and 700 g, respectively. It is concluded that probiotic Bifinorm and prebiotic additives Vetelact and Frodo are effectively used for correction of intestinal microflora in calves under severe radioactive contamination, positively influence on their survivability and growth dynamics.
