The paper gives an analysis of the effectiveness of the improved anti-epizootic actions in the control of bovine leucosis at the farms of the Vologda Region from 1990 to 2006 performed with regard to the initial infectivity of herds using 4 routes: 0.1-2.5% - route 1; 2.6-10.0% - route 2; 10.1-40.0% route 3 and above 40% route 4. There are given recommendations for different serological (seropositive, seronegative) groups of cows during calving, keeping (forced slaughter, isolator farms, control breeding yards) and feeding in stable and pasture periods, regrouping animals by IDT-test results, as well as when detecting virus carrying animals. As is found, the improved system allowed to reduce twice the sanitation time on average. When using a single sanitation route at farms, the sanitation time of the farms having up to 10% of infected stock was 4.5 years, from 10.1 to 30.0% - 5.5 years, more than 30.0% - 8.2 years; as for the proposed routes: 0.1-2.5% - 1 year; 2.6-10.0% - 2 years, 10.1-40.0% - 5 years and more than 40% - 6.2 years. The wide introduction of the improved control system against bovine leucosis allowed to decline the number of affected locations from 470 (1990) to 9 (2006), animals with hematological diseases – from 4123 to 19, respectively, seronegative animals from 41.6 thousand to 251. The safety period of the farms was 15 years.
