Results in forage crops breeding, agrotechnique and seed production at Institute of Field and Vegetable Crops [Novi Sad, Serbia]

For more than 50 years of breeding in the Forage Crops Department of the Institute of Field and Vegetable Crops in Novi Sad (Serbia), many forage crops have been developed 14 cultivars of lucerne, 2 cultivars of red clover and 41 cultivars and hybrids of annual forage crops, namely field pea, vetches, forage sorghum, Sudan grass and fodder kale. Simultaneously with breeding, a long-term research on forage crops agronomy has been carried out, in order to improve their genetic potential, as well as research on the improvement of forage crops seed production, with emphasis upon lucerne.
