Morphological characteristics of yellow honey bee in Vojvodina [Serbia]

The aim of this work was observe some morphological characteristics of yellow honey bee in Vojvodina. The samples was gathered from three locations: Banatsko Arandjelovo, Fruska Gora and Uljma. From each colony 10 bees were examined, whose parts were prepared, scaned and measured with computer software. The following averages were got: fore wing length (9.05 mm), fore wing width (3.08 mm), cubital index (2.33), basitarsus length (2.04 mm), basitarsus width (1.16 mm), tarsus index (56.74%), corbicula area (0.70 square mm), tongue length (6.40 mm), number of yellow rings (2.67), number of hooks (21.23). The bees from Banatsko Arandjelovo had the largest average values for majority features, while the smallest average values had the bees from Fruska Gora.
