The contribution deals with the development of selected indicators of the Slovak food industry in the period of 1999-2003. It monitors the development of indicators concerning production, number of enterprises and employment in connection with some other related indicators (e.g. foreign capital, investments, subsidies and labour productivity) classified according to 16 food branches and sorted by size and profit/loss of subjects. The qualification of the concentration level according selected methods is a specific view on the development of food branches.
