We used microsatellite DNA markers to increase the characterization of genetic resources of bean maintained in Genebank of Slovak Republic, Piestany. Plants are usually characterized by morphological markers which are limited by number of descriptors and level of polymorphism. Recently hundreds of microsatellites are known in many plant species and their number increases every day. Some of microsatellites are linked with agronomic traits as well as important genes.
