Evaluation of financially-economic development of the Czech food processing industry in the period of 2002-2004 and trends 2005-2006

In the framework structural analyses pursued in VUZE 2005 was financially-economic development of the Czech food processing industry in the period of 2002-2004 assessed from view of six selected financial ratios, i.e. return on equity (ROE), cost profitability, total liquidity, quick ratio, inventory turnover and debt ratio of equity, classified according to food branches and food processing industry as a whole. Development trends are also indicated for years 2005-2006. Computing shows that most indicators of food processing industry as a whole got worse in year 2003 as compared to year 2002 (fall in return on equity -ROE by 0,95 p. b, cost profitability by 1.3 7 p. b., total liquidity by 0.19, quick ratio by 0.01 and in debt ratio of equity by 16.5 p. b.), by contrast there was decrease in inventory turnover (more than 2 days). The level of majority assessed indicators of food processing industry as a whole improved in year 2004 in comparison with year 200 3 (increase in return on equity - ROE by 1.34 p. b. and in cost profitability by 0.39 p. b., decrease in debt ratio of equity by 3.11 p. b.), by contrast there were fall in total liquidity by 0.02 and in quick ratio by 0.01 and a rise in inventory turnover-more than 1 day. Achieving level of particular assessed indicators of manufacturing branches is a very different and rather this state to stay in next years to join with restructuralisation forward to branches of high phases of manufacturing agrarian production.
