This paper is focused on the function of calcium in plant and soil. Calcium plays the important role in soil. Exchangeable Ca2+ and Ca2- in soil solution are important for plant nutrition. Concentration of Ca2+ in soil solution was determined in rhizobox experiments performed during control conditions of the climate box. Winter wheat was cultivated in these experiments. The results showed higher concentration of calcium in the wheat rhizosphere in contrast to bulk soil. Ca distribution in plant cell, role of calcium in membrane stability and cell integrity are described. Calcium content in plant is discussed in relation to plant growth and plant composition.
