The effect of three forecrops (sugar beet, maize for grain and winter wheat) and intensity of nitrogen fertilization on the spring barley yield and quality production at the field experiment were studied. According three years results (1999-2001) followed, that the grain yield was affected by years, forecrop and intensity of N fertilization. The highest grain yields (6.97 t per ha) was reached in the year 1999 and the lowest one (2.67 t per ha, only 38.3) in the year 2000. The best forecrop was sugar beet (5.39 t per ha grain of spring barley) and the winter wheat the worst one (3.61 t per ha, 66.9). The highest grain yield in average was obtained by NPK fertilization with FYM application under forecrop (5.04 t per ha) and the lower one on the treatments without mineral fertilization with FYM application 2 times in rotation, system corresponds to the principles of IFOAM (4.26 t per ha) and on the treatments with P,K application only (4.38 t per ha). From the point of view of grain yield the years and forecrops did not affect the fertilization and vice versa. The year condition and forecrop affected variability of TKW, grain over the sieve and volume weight of grain and content of raw protein. Nitrogen fertilization significantly influenced the increasing of spring barley grain yield and content of raw protein.
