Assesment of ascorbic acid in different genetic resources of rhubarb (Rheum L., Polygonaceae)

Rhubarb is a perennial plant with a specific taste. To evaluate the genetic resources of rhubarb, 21 specimens of petiole have been tested for ascorbic acid content. In average, ascorbic acid recorded 258 mg per kg. Higher ascorbic acid content was obtained with the first harvested petiole 343 mg per kg (May), while the second harvest showed lower content 172 mg per kg (June).
