Czech silvicultural systems - a historical point of view

A review of development of management and silvicultural systems used in Czech forests cover the historical aspects: from Middle Ages till now. The Czech Forest Act recognizes four basic reproduction cuttings: (i) shelterwood system, (ii) border cutting system, (iii) clear cuttings and (iv) selection system. The principles as well as advantages and main characteristics of each system are given, too.
