Study was carried out on sandy loam soil (fine-loamy, siliceous, Oxic Paleustults) at Ubon Ratchathani Field Crops Research Center during October, 2003-October, 2004. The experiment was designed in a 3*3 factorial in RCB with 3 replications. The first factors were chicken manure application rates (0, 400 and 800 kg/rai) and the second factors were chemical fertilizer application rates (0, 25 and 50 kg/rai). The results revealed that there was no interaction between chicken manure and chemical fertilizer. This cassava variety significantly responded to chicken manure at the rate of 400 kg/rai, which gave the highest fresh root yield (6,892 kg/rai), dry chip yield (2,886 kg/rai) and starch yield (2,247 kg/rai). It also significantly responded to chemical fertilizer at the rate of 25 kg/rai, which produced the highest fresh root yield (6,779 kg/rai), dry chip yield (2,848 kg/rai) and starch yield (2,223 kg/rai). The higher rates of either chicken manure or chemical fertilizer had no significant effect on cassava yield. The increase of cassava yield was mainly due to the increase of root yield per plant. Chemical fertilizer had significantly effect on starch content. On the other hand, chicken manure had no effect on starch content. The application of chicken manure at rate of 800 kg/rai at planting plus chemical fertilizer at rate of kg/rai at 1 month after planting produced the highest profit (5,299 baht/rai) with a valuable marginal rate of return at 101 percent.
