Notes on Venezuelan fungi

This is an account of a collection of 103 species of fungi, mostly plant pathogens, from Venezuela together with observations on their incidence. The list includes 14 Phycomycetes, 12 Ascomycetes, 3 Ustilaginales, 13 Uredinales, 20 Hymenomycetes, and 41 Fungi Imperfect. Diseases of crops are usually destructive in Venezuela. Weather predisposes the crops to certain diseases. Some pathogenic fungi are favored by the "dry season", and others by the "rainy season." Certain pathogens produce epiphytotics in Venezuela whereas the same species are of minor importance in the southeastern United States.
