Analysis of seed-corn maize production for 1990-2005 period

The aim of this study is to make an analysis of the seed-corn maize production and to define the strength and the direction of the factor influence that has brought about transpiration of the observed tendencies. The level, rates and dynamics of the crop area changes are investigated as well as the production and the output for the whole country and for the separate regions are analyzed too. An analysis of the fault level in the technological system - scientifically well-found crop alternation, fertilizing, prevention with weed vegetation and irrigation has been also done. It has been worked out that the decrease of the production capacity is a complex result from the negative one-way influence of the extensive and the intensive factors. The crop areas have been progressively decreasing as in 2002 and 2005 they reached the lowest levels for a period of 107 years. The independent influence of the emerged changes itself has led to a loss of 204,000 tons under the analyzed period, as only for the last 5 years - 565,000 tons. The intensification factors have a deciding significance. As a result of the anticipating speed of reducing the rate of using the land, the decrease is respectively 300,000 tons (or 15,4%) for the first period and 31,000 tons (or 1,6%) for the second one. The occurred changes of the strength and direction of the influence in the two groups of factors for the period 2001 - 2005, are a regular result from the growth of the quantity of the output reached in 2004 and 2005. As an average” the negative tendency to a significant breaking of the basic agro-technical recommendations of the crop science has been recorded for the analyzed period and for particular sub-periods and years. The level of the resource providing of the production is unsatisfactory. Under conditions without fertilizing, 30% of the seed-corn maize areas are sown, and on the rest 70% a unilateral nitrogen fertilizing is carried out. Optimized norms of fertilizing with the basic nutritious elements (nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium) and their combination with microelements and organic fertilizers are not applied. The chemical prevention with the weed vegetation is not performed for 31% of the areas, while the irrigation of the maize has a symbolic, flimsy effect. The percentage of the areas, seeded after inappropriate predecessors and as a mono-crop has been increasing for the last years.
