Sero-epizootological data for malignant catarrhal fever spreading in Bulgaria
2008
Peshev, R., National Diagnostic and Research Veterinary Institute, Sofia (Bulgaria)
In the present investigation are performed serologic and epizootologic studies on MCF spreading in some Bulgarian regions. After serologic study of 106 bovine, ovine and goats serum by MVNT and ELISA tests the positive percent for antibody against BHV 1 and BHV 4 was statistically significant (p0.05) smaller than the obtained for MCF by an ELISA test. The highest percent positive sera from sheep and goats were established in 230 serum samples of small and big ruminants originated from four country regions after using commercial ELISA test which confirm the statement that they are the main origin of infection. In epidemiological investigations were obtained data for an increasing of the MCF frequency appearance after prolonged contacts between sheep and bovine and higher proportion of cattle and sheep in farms.
