In 2003-2005 an experiment was conducted at the experimental field of Agricultural University Plovdiv - Department of Crop production, by block metod in 4 replications. The plots were 25 m2. The varieties Bely izvor, Ogosta, Chirpan 603, Chirpan 539 and Avangard were investigated. The experiment was held on an improved cleysoil, sandy-clayey, with depth of the humus horizon “А” - 25-28 cm. The soil reaction was neutral to alkaline (pH - 7.0-7.5) and the humus content was high (4-6%). The growing of plants was performed in compliance with the standard technology with sowing quotas 4 kg/da and space between rows - 60 cm after winter wheat predecessor, without irrigation. The first harvesting was performed on 60-70% of capsule dehiscence, and the second one - after the rest of them dehisced. The aim of this work was to estabish the lint yield and quality of the five bulgarian cotton varieties, grown in the region of Plovdiv. Variety Chirpan 539 of lint yield and lint percent, eceeded studied varieties, regardless of differences in the climatic conditions of the years. Variety Avangard has higher fiber length. For the purpose of determining the quantity dependence between the studied indicators, the experimental data were processed according to the Anova Method of dispersion analysis, and the differences between the variants were determined by means of the Dunkan’s Multiple Range Test (1995).
