Relative Time for Contact Along the Furrows in Impulses with Different Length
2008
Gospodinov, I., Agricultural Institute, Stara Zagora (Bulgaria)
Within the last 1-2 decades an increasing number of universities and research centers work on methods of improving gravity irrigation. The efforts are directed mainly to decreasing the labour, minimising the lost of irrigating water, improving its distribution and limitation of irrigative erosion. The best results were obtained as a results applying surge irrigation along the furrows, thus the essential requirements were the length of impulses, preirrigation soil moisture, the irrigating flow and the irrigation time. The aim of this study was to establish the duration of impulses having the best effect on the time for contact of the water with the soil along the furrows using relative measures. The study was done on the basis of signifficaut number of measurements of the time for contact applying impulses from 5 to 60 minutes, different preirrigation moisture of the soil and magnitude of the irrigating flow. In was established, that in surge irrigation the best effect had the impulses from 5 to 10 minutes.
