Effect of Rootstock on Chlorophyll Content in the Leaves of Some Introduced Plum Cultivars
2009
Stefanova, B. (Institute of Mountain Stockbreeding and Agriculture, Troyan (Bulgaria))
During the period 2005-2008 in IMSA Troyan cultivar-rootstock trials were carried out with the introduced plum cultivars Tegera, Hanita, Jojo and Cacanska Lepotica and the rootstocks Brompton, GF 655-2, SJ A, Wavit, Wangenheims, Fereley and Mirobolan. The effect of the rootstocks on pigment quantity in the leaves was followed. It was found that the chlorophyll content is a cultivar trait, being highest in the leaves of Tegera and Jojo cultivars. The rootstock had also an effect on carotenoid content - it was highest for the combination of rootstock GF 655-2 with cultivars Jojo, Cacanska Lepotica and Stanley and that of rootstock Fereley with Tegera, Jojo and Hanita.
