The habit of walnut seedlings grown under the conditions of sand culture and on alluvial-meadow soil (Fluvisol) under the influence of the soil herbicides napropamide, pendimethalin, terbacil, metolachlor, linuron, oxadiargyl and isoxaflutol was analyzed in a pot experiment under controlled conditions. The effect of the two studied factors (soil and herbicide) and their interaction on the biometric indices aboveground weight (g) and stem height (cm) was evaluated by a two-factor ANOVA. Statistical significance of evaluation and the strength of the effect of the factors (h) were determined by Senecor method applying the F-criterion of Fisher. The results obtained showed that the herbicide, the soil and the interaction between them, had statistically significant effect on both the aboveground weight and the stem height. The biggest effect on weight was exerted by soil (70%), followed by that of the herbicide (21%), while the determining effect on stem height was exerted by the herbicide (55%), followed by the soil effect (26%).
