[Economic efficiency of pork production in the Republic of Belarus]

In the modern conditions of managing it is necessary to take the special attention to the question of definition of the unused reserves of increase of economic efficiency of pork production. Efficiency of pig-breeding enterprises in Belarus in 2004-2006 is considered and analyzed. The majority of the pig-breeding enterprises, both large, and small, now is unprofitably. Principal causes of deep crisis in swine breeding are: absence of support from the state which should stimulate the domestic pork production; price disparity between agricultural and industrial output; weak material and fodder bases of branch; absence of breeding work. Nevertheless in swine breeding exist while not involved possibilities which can lead to increase in production volumes. The basic reserves for the further intensification of branch and improvement of economic efficiency of pork production in the enterprises are reduced to the following: Perfection of feeding and maintenance with forages; reduction of the cost price of a diet at the expense of increase in own areas under crops; increase of animal efficiency and as consequence - growth of volumes of pork production; reduction of work expenses by increase in level of mechanization of productions and others. For the decision of these problems it is necessary, along with modern technologies, introduction of perspective management methods, planning, organization and realization of pork production. Only the complex decision of the listed problems will allow to transform swine breeding into highly profitable branch of agriculture
