Mecanismos bioquímicos de defensa en variedades de arroz infestadas con Steneotarsonemus spinki

Se estudiaron las actividades enzimáticas de peroxidasas, polifenol oxidasas, inhibidores de tripsina y quimotripsina, y esterasas, en variedades con diferente grado de resistencia al ácaro Steneotarsonemus spinki. Para ello se infectaron las plantas con el acáro y se analizaron las vainas en distintos días post-infección. Las vainas se maceraron con nitrógeno líquido, se les realizó la extracción de proteínas y los extractos se congelaron a _200C, para posteriormente realizar las determinaciones enzimáticas. Se obtuvieron mayores valores de las actividades específicas en las plantas sanas de la variedad resistente, en comparación con las plantas sanas de las variedad susceptible. Sin embargo, a los 10 días post- infección, los valores de actividad específica aumentaron en la variedad susceptible, producto de un mayor aumento en la cantidad de ácaros en estas plantas. Estos resultados demuestran la posible función de estas enzimas como mecanismos de defensa del cultivo del arroz frente a esta plaga.

The enzymatic activities of peroxidases, polyphenol oxidase, esterases, trypsin and chymotrypsin inhibitors were studied in varieties with different resistance degree to the mite Steneotarsonemus spinki. For this, the plants were infected with the mite and samples from vains were taken at different post- infection days. Vains were macerated with liquid nitrogen, proteins were extracted and samples were frozen at _200C for a posterior enzymatic determination. Higher values of specific activities were obtained in healthy plants of resistant variety as compared with healthy plants of susceptible one. However, at ten days of infection, the specific activity values increased in the susceptible variety because mite levels increased in these plants. The results show the possible role of these enzymes in the defense mechanisms of rice against this pest.
