Droughts in the Central Bohemia region and their influence on the yield of sugar beet

The objective of this research was to analyse the influence of drought on sugar beet yields in Central Bohemia during the years 1961-2006 using a modified model of climatic variability of yield Cm, special graphs with weather data (average monthly temperatures and monthly sums of precipitation) and index of drought Si. The less favourable years for the growth of sugar beet were 1976, 1990 and 1991. The most decisive months with regard to the effect of drought were May and June.
