Field studies with cotton hybrids in response to moisture stress revealed that moisture deficit affected the total chlorophyll as well as proline content in leaves irrespective of varieties. Yield and its attributes decreased significantly in all the varieties in response to water stress imposed at flowering stage. Out offive cotton hybrids, PKV Hy- 4 and PKV Hy-2 were found to be relatively drought tolerant on basis of assessment of their yield performance. The flowering stage in cotton was found to be more critical to moisture stress.
