Effectiveness of various protectants on adult mortality of pulse beetle, Callosobruchus maculatus (F.) infesting pigeonpea seeds

The investigations on efficacy of 11 seed protectants against Callosobruchus maculatus (F.) on pigeonpea were conducted during March to July 2003 under ambient conditions in the seed stores. Observations were recorded 1,35, 70 and 105 days after treatment. Dung cake ash (4 cm covering) as seed protectant proved highly effective, while saw dust (4 cm covering) proved to be least effective in causing mortality of the pests at all the intervals.
