The speciment were obtained from slaughterhouse. The days of pregnancy was determined from the crown-rump length of the collected foeti and were grouped. The specimens were processed separately and periodic acid schiffs (PASS) stain for polysaccharides was conducted. Gradual increase in glycogen accumulation in tunica media of arteries was observed with the advancement of pregnancy. As the pregnancy progressed the glycogen accumulation spreaded towards brush-border and in later stage throughtout the entire layer. This increase is glycogen content was probably due to increased functional importance of the substance in the maintenance of pregnancy.
