A screen house experiment was conducted during kharif season of 1999 to study the effect of lead and organic carbon on the yield and nutrient concentration on maize. The result showed that the growth of maize plants increase at lower level of Pb application to soil, however further increase of Pb levels in soil application had resulted in significant reduction in the dry matter yield of the crop. Application of organic materials showed that nitrogen content increased and potassium content decreased but there was no consistent trend observed in case of phosphorus content of plants with the application of Pb. However, the organic carbon application improved the nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium content of the plant.
