Evaporation losses by mulching and tillage in the pistachio garden in the sirjan rigion

In this experiment the effects of mulching and tillage treatments on the evaporation losses in pistachio trees were studied. The treatments were plastic cover, stubble wheat, spreading sand, tillage after of irrigation and blank treatment. The amount of irrigation water applied was 5000m3/ha in an interval every 2 or 3 month. The soil moisture content was measured in 180cm depth after irrigation every 15 days in all treatments. According to the results, the highest soil moisture content was observed under plastic cover, while it was in lowest range in blank treatment. The evaporation was decreased under mulching and tillage treatment. Although plastic cover had high moisture conservation but it was not economic and caused environmental problem, and it is not recommended. Finally tillage after irrigation and spreading sand on the surface of land were recommended.
