Evaluating and Comparison on number of promising populations of native Iranian melon with commercial cultivars.

Fifeen Iranian melon populations accompanying with "Passport"Hybrid melon was compared in an RCBD model for Fruit length, Fruit width, Sugar content, shape Index, ovary diameter,fruit weight and flesh diameter. All characters under study was significantly different in populations in experiment. The highest fruit weuight belonged to Improved soosski (sample 3, Code 13), The highest sugar content which detected from TSS, was measured in Khaghanee ( Khaghanee) and Rahmanloo(Zanjan). Studies in phenotypic correlations detected a significant correlation in most of characters under study. The shape index was considered as a very effective selection Index because had significant correlations with all characters expect TSS.
