Cold is one of the major limitations to develop rapeseed in cold and semi - cold rain fed areas of Iran. In the present study, to preliminary evaluation the agronomic characteristics of 9 winter rapeseed varieties under rain fed condition, the experiments were conducted based on RCBD with 3 replications in Sararood - Kermanshah (cold temperate region) and the Sarab changahi - Khoramabad (temperate region) stations in 2004 - 05. Results showed rapeseed varieties growth were stopped at the cotyledonary or 2-leaf stages in December (24 days temp. below 0 , and min. abs. temp. -10.4C) and then the continue below zero temperatures destroyed the seedlings in Sararood station. Whereas rapeseed seedlings in December (13 days temp. below 0, and min. abs. temp. -4C) could survived and reached to multi-leaf stage, but not completely, in the Sarab changahi station. Remained plants after winter, however, produced suitable yield. Results showed that ORW 201-3001 and RG 4504 had the highest and lowest days to maturity, respectively. Also the highest seed yield was belong to Dante variety (2113 kg/ha), and Vectra hybrid (1513 Kg/ha).
