Evaluation of Sugar Beet Genetic Materials for Resistance to Crown Wart
2004
Azizpour, Mohammad Hoseyn | Sharifi, Hamid | Mandani, Hasan
In order to evaluate the resistance of 20 sugar beet lines (produced SBSI) against gal disease, and also to investigate the infection indices, an experimental design based on RCB (with 20 treatments and 4 replications) was performed in dezful. The ratio of gal weight to root weight (G.W/R.W) in various lines had significant differences. The Biston and Otype276-81 lines had the lowest and the highest G.W/R.W, respectively, in comparison with other lines. The white sugar yield (W.S.Y) from various lines had significant differences. The average root yield (R.Y) was 66.21tone/hec and the average W.S.Y was 7.89 tone/hec in the experiment. The Monodoro and Otype236-78 lines had the highest and the lowest W.S.Y,s product of 11.36 and 4.77 tone/hec, respectively. In the 2nd year, the ratio of G.W/R.W in various lines had significant differences. The Otype7173-81 and Otype276-81 lines had the lowest and the highest G.W/R.W with amounts 0.01 and 0.04, respectively. The W.S.Y from various lines had significant differences. The average R.Y was 50.105tone/hec and the average W.S.Y was 5.33 tone/hec in the experiment. The highest W.S.Y ( 7.146 tone/hec ) and the lowest W.S.Y ( 3.286 tone/hec ) were pertained to Monodoro and otype231-78 lines, respectively. It is mentionable that 2nd year conditions, because of late harwest, was abnormal. Therefore, only the 1st year,s results were credible and their 2-year combined analysis was impossible.
