An investigation on distribution and states of infection of corn leaf blight in Tehran, Fars, Esfahan and Mazandaran provinces F . Mehrian , R ,Kamran , S, Jalali , and A. Dalili During2003-2005 many specimens of infected leaves were collected from Fars, Tehran, Mazandaran and Esfahan provinces . Sampling was done from seedling to ear formation stage. The common method were used to isolate the causal agent of corn leaf blight were PDA, CMA and Blotter method .According to laboratory & greenhouse tests,the following fungal species were identified : Bipolaris maydis , Bipolaris zeicola , Curvularia ovoidea ،Bipolaris spicifera Cercospora zea. B.cynodontis, , Ustilago maydisIn Tehran and Esfahan provinces B. maydis was dominant fungus and widly distributed in fields .In this research Curvularia ovoidea had the highest frequency in Mazandaran province. Experiments showed that average percent in infected plants was 3-8% in Tehran province, In Esfahan province average percent to B.maydis was % 1/37, to U.maydis %2/75.In Mazandaran province B.maydis had % 37/93 frequency and C.ovoidea had % 62/07 frequency, and in Fars province infection was low.
