The method for the best pot seedling of the strawberry cultivar 'Beni hoppe' was investigated. 1. The number of leaves on the seedling influenced the growth of the seedling. About four leaves are preferable, considering the growth after it is transplanted. 2. When we increased the amount of fertilizer, the growth of the seedling was vigorous. But, the amount of applied nutrients from 100 to 160 mgN in a 9 cm pot was appropriate when the runners were cut off so as not to block the roots. 3. There is a possibility that seedlings with a high productive capacity can be produced by defoliation even if the runner cutting time and plant age in leaf number are different. 4. The self-topping can be controlled by improving the content of the seedlings up to about 40 ppm NO3 by using liquid manure in the raising of seedling at the end.
