'Daburu 8 Gou' is a hard wheat cultivar which was developed by Gunma Agricultural Technology Center, Japan. It is processed into bread, Chinese-noodle and soy sauce. The consumer wants to improve the protein content of the grains by more than 12.5%, so we studied the method of topdressing for the wheat cultivar 'Daburu 8 Gou' to achieve this aim. The conditions are as follows. The sowing time is the begining of November in a paddy of andosols, with characteristics of the flat countries. The basal dressing is 5 g/square m in terms of nitrogen (similar to 'Norin 61') and the sowing rate is 7 to 10g/square m. We applied the ammonium sulfate, 4 g/square m in terms of nitrogen, as the topdressing before the jointing stage. By applying the ammonium sulfate or a similar kind of fertilizer with 4g/square m of nitrogen around the heading date we can usually achieve our aims for a higher protein content for the 'Daburu 8 Gou' grains.
