إنجليزي. The aim of the promotion paper is to characterize grey alder stands in the context of its timber productivity estimated surface biomass and stand structure. The objectives of the research: (1) evaluation of dendrometric parameters, growing process and productivity of grey alder stands; (2) investigation of conformities of variations in basal area, growing stock and crown structure of grey alders; (3) work the methods biomass determination of aboveground of grey alders and estimation of aboveground biomass of grey alders. The structure of the promotion paper depends on the above mentioned objectives of the research and consists of 4 chapters. 1. The state of cognizance of grey alder and grey alder stands. The chapter deals with the evaluation of grey alder Alnus incana (L.) Moench and its stand regeneration, specifics of distribution, and its biological and economic importance. The chapter summaries the findings of the previous research work on the growth, productivity and structure of grey alder. The comparison of grey alder stand productivity with other tree species has been carried out. The methods of grey alder biomass determination in different countries have been compared. 2. Research materials and methodology. To carry out the research tasks 55 sample plots have been set up in 2 – 40 year old grey alder stands. Empirical material collection and data processing methodology has been presented. 3. Evaluations of grey alder stand structure and productivity. The research data on grey alder stand dendrometric indicators have been summarized. The variating character of structure elements in grey alder stands of different ages has been described, using: the variating character of the number of trees; the distribution of the number of trees in common and natural average stages; the distribution of stand volume into average stages; correlations of cummulative frequency of the number of trees, basal area and stand volume in grey alder stands; characteristics of tree crown structure. The evaluation of the amount of biomass of grey alder stands has been carried out by means of empirical equations. The parameters characterizing the density of naturally wet and absolutely dry wood of grey alder have been researched. The amount of naturally wet and absolutely dry biomass of the researched grey alder stands has been clarified. The evaluation of the structure and productivity of grey alder stands has been carried using the methods of descriptive statistics, correlation, regression and dispersion analysis. 4. Summary. The author’s findings, conclusions and proposals which were obtained during the research work have been summarized.

لاتفيا. Pētījumu mērķis: noskaidrot baltalkšņa audžu krājas iegūstamās virszemes biomasas un audžu struktūras kontekstā. Pētījuma uzdevumi: (1) analizēt nekopto baltalkšņa audžu dendrometriskos rādītājus un audžu ražību; (2) izpētīt baltalkšņa audžu koku skaita, šķērslaukuma, krājas un vainaga struktūras izmaiņu likumsakarības; (3) izstrādāt baltalkšņa bezlapotas virszemes biomasas noteikšanas metodiku un izanalizēt baltalkšņa audžu virszemes biomasas apjomus. Promocijas darba struktūra ir atkarīga no augstāk minēto pētījumu uzdevumiem un sastāv no 4 nodaļām. 1. Baltalkšņa un to audžu izzinātības stāvoklis. Alnus incana (L.) Moench un tā audžu atjaunošanās, izplatības specifikas un bioloģiskā un saimnieciskā nozīmīguma izvērtēšana. Apkopota informācija par baltalkšņa audžu resursiem Latvijā. Nodaļā apkopotas iepriekšējo pētījumu atziņas par baltalkšņa augšanas gaitu, audžu ražību un baltalkšņa audžu struktūru. Veikts baltalkšņa audžu ražības salīdzinājums ar citām koku sugām. Salīdzinātas baltalkšņa biomasas noteikšanas metodes dažādās valstīs. 2. Pētījuma materiāls un metodika. Darba uzdevumu realizācijai ierīkoti 55 parauglaukumi 2 – 40 gadus vecās baltalkšņa audzēs. Dota empīriskā materiāla ievākšanas un datu apstrādes metodika. 3. Baltalkšņa audžu struktūras un ražības izvērtējums. Apkopoti pētījumu dati par baltalkšņa audžu dendrometriskajiem rādītājiem. Izklāstīts baltalkšņa audžu struktūras elementu variēšanas raksturs dažāda vecuma baltalkšņa audzēs, izmantojot: koku skaita variēšanas raksturu; koku skaita sadalījumu parastajās un dabiskajās caurmēra pakāpēs; krājas sadalījumu caurmēra pakāpēs; koku skaita, šķērslaukuma un krājas kumulatīvās frekvenču savstarpējās sakarības baltalkšņa audzēs; koku vainaga struktūras raksturojumu. Veikta baltalkšņa un baltalkšņa audžu biomasas apjomu izvērtēšana ar izstrādāto empīrisko vienādojumu palīdzību. Izpētīts baltalkšņa dabiski mitras un absolūti sausas koksnes blīvuma raksturlielumi. Noskaidroti izpētīto baltalkšņa audžu dabiski mitrās un absolūti sausās virszemes biomasas apjomi. Baltalkšņa audžu struktūras un ražības izvērtēšana veikta ar aprakstošās statistikas, korelācijas, regresijas un dispersijas analīzes metodēm. 4. Secinājumi. Apkopotas autores atziņas, secinājumi un priekšlikumi, kas gūti, pētot baltalkšņa audzes.
