The aim of experimentation was to carry out a comparison of spring and winter oilseed rape varieties and to investigate suitable for East Latvia region production technology; to prepare suggestions for farmers about oilseed rape varieties and its production technology. 17 spring and 16 winter oilseed rape varieties have been investigated in experimentation. The new agrotechnical approaches and agents (special oilseed rape complex mineral fertilizers NPK 18:9:15, insecticides, herbicides and the latest fungicide Kantos) are used in production technology. The area of trial field - 40 square m. The highest seed yield have been obtained from winter oilseed rape varieties - 'SW Banjo'- 3.42 t haE-1, 'Olphi' - 3.34 t haE-1, 'Artus' - 3.18 t haE-1 and 'Canelle' - 3.13 t haE-1. The highest seed yield have been obtained from such spring oilseed rape varieties as '201 - E 16'- 5.24 t haE-1, 'SWL 2840' - 4.59 t haE-1, 'Hunter' - 4.52 t haE-1 and 'SWL 2837' - 4.47 t haE-1. The oil content was higher in winter oilseed rape varieties - in separate varieties it exceeds 43%. Oil content in all spring oilseed rape varieties exceed 40% determined in standard.
