Studies on the amylogram properties in the recombinant inbred lines of Milyang 23 x Gihobyeo on the rapidity of grain filling ratio

Amylogram properties of rice grain were evaluated by Rapid visco analyzer and the interrelationships among these amylogram properties and other characteristics related with the grain quality based on the varietal groups classified by the rapidity of grain filling (RGF) which was calculated by the percentage of grain filling at 7 days after heading to the grain filling at 35 days after heading. The 164 recombinant inbred lines from the cross of Milyang 23 and Gihobyeo were used to get the basic information regarding the amylogram properties such as gelatinization temperature, peak viscosity, hot viscosity, cool viscosity, breakdown, pasting consistency and set back. The recombinant inbred line of Milyang 23 and Gihobyeo could be grouped into 4 varietal groups such as slow maturing (less than 40 percent of RGF), mid-slow maturing (41-60 percent of RGF), fast maturing (61-80 percent of RGF)and very fast maturing (more than 81 percent of maturing) based on the rapidity of the grain filling. The cool viscosity and set back revealed a regular tendency by the varietal groups classified by the RGF in the Milyang 23 x Gihobyeo recombinant inbred line materials. The cool viscosity is highly positive correlated with peak viscosity and hot viscosity at the both fast and very fast maturing varietal groups.
