Ischaemic Heart Diseases (IHDs) are among the major public health problems. As it is evident from the study that there was a significant improvement in the signs of relief mainly chest pain, dysponea, palpitation and vertigo. As far as the improvement in the chest pain and vertigo is concerned it can be attributed to the presence of Bhilawan (Semecarpus anacardium), Arjun (Terminalia arjuna), Gul-e-Aak (Calotropis) and suranjan (Colchicum luteum) which have rubefacient, vasodilatory and analgesic actions. Due to the Digitalis like effects of Arjun and Gul-e-Aak, an improvement in myocardial action due to decreased oxygen demand and better concentrations in myocardium resulted in the disappearance of palpitation due to tachycardia. Improvement in dyspnoea can also be attributed to an overall improvement in myocardial function. No improvement was seen in the sweating related to chest pain and dysponea.
