Growth and yield performance of wheat varieties under Tandojam conditions
2006
Dobal, G.M.
The wheat varieties were grown in Randomized Complete Block Design, replicated three times. The results showed that Abadgar variety had highest (125.33), days to maturity, however, TJ-83 variety had minimum (115.00) days to maturity. The plant height increased linearly with the Abadgar. The maximum plant height (100.300 cm) was observed in Abadgar however TD-1 produced dwarf plants. Tiller per plant increased linearly with Kiran-95 variety. The maximum tiller per plant (7.20) were observed in Kiran-95, however the Sarsabz variety had minimum (3.33) tillers per plant. The maximum number of spikes per plant (6.48) were observed in Abadgar. The Sarsabz variety gave minimum (3.06) number of spikes per plant. The maximum number of grains per plant (69.66). were observed in Mehran-89. TD-1 variety recorded minimum (48.00) grains per spike. The maximum biological yield per plant (g) (39.80) was observed in Abadgar. The TD-1 variety gave minimum (17.00) biological yield per plant (g). The result of the experiment revealed that the seed index (1000 grain weight in gms) increased linearly with TD-1 variety. The maximum seed index (1000 grain weight in gms) (52.33) was observed in plot where TD-1 was grown. The Anmol variety gave minimum (39.66) seed index values. The maximum grain yield (3775.66) was observed in the treated with Abadgar. The TJ-83 gave minimum (3281.66) grain yield kg per ha. It may be concluded that growth and yield performance of different wheat varieties was satisfactory, but, the Abadgar variety recorded better growth and yield performance compared to other varieties.
