A research was conducted during 2002-04 to investigate the influence of various rates of nitrogen and potassium fertilizers on the nutrition of Gomphrena globosa cultivated in the greenhouse. A significant increase of total nitrogen and nitrate content in the leaves was observed when higher rates of nitrogen were applied, regardless of the used potassium fertilizer. Furthermore, the levels of phosphorus and potassium in the leaves decreased with higher rates of nitrogen. High rates of nitrogen, however, had no significant effect on magnesium, chlorine and sulphur contents in the leaves. The research indicates that potassium chloride is more useful to Gomphrena cultivation than potassium sulphate and potassium nitrate
