In this study, the contents of macroelements and microelements and persistent organic pollutants (polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, polychlorinated biphenyls, organochlorine pesticides) were determined in sugar beet and its products (extracted sugar beet pulp, dried sugar beet pulp, molasses and white sugar) obtained from leading factories in the Vojvodina Province (Serbia). As well as, multivariate data analysis techniques were applied to classify the samples (sugar beet and its products, and soil where beet was grown) according to their element contents. Obtained data for investigated pollutants were used to estimate their daily intakes per person on the base of average total consumption of white sugar (including juice, syrup, jam, and bisquit), and compare to the reference intakes.
