The point of this thesis is to establish the entire relevant factor for the protection of the origin of the Njegus cheese according to the Law of geographical origin marks for protection of the cheese. In this thesis we gave the description of the technological production process of the Njegus cheese, the way which is necessary for starting and getting the legal right of origin protection of any kind of the cheese. That is the reason why is in this work presented the methodical research made on Njegus cheese in a purpose of its description, which is necessary for the procedure of getting the mark of origin. The researches are made in the field, in some households and in the dairy Niksen Trade situated in Njegusi (Montenegro). This work is connected with some basic data for protection of the geographic origin and the name of the Njegus cheese, and it means: the special way of production and characteristics of the cheese from the chemical and microbiological aspect as well as the visual characteristics.
