Result of this work is detailed description of principal component analysis. This description is based on existing literature connected to principal components. What has been given in this work is concise overview through different opinions and different reffered to this method, and also other multivariate analysis methods. Theoretical background and hypotheses, which are the base for principal component analysis application, have also been detailly elaborated in this work. Correct procedures for numerical calculations, testing and interpretation of results obtained using principal component analysis are also incorporated in this work. Having practical confirmation of principal component analysis application in agricultural researches as a main aim in this work, what has also been perfomed in this study is numerical calculation of principal components, based on three different agricultural research examples. This numerical calculation was performed using Statistica 8.0 (statistical software package).
