Microbiogical research on the agents of biodeterioration of a group of Tako products (Takovo-Swisslion, G. Milanovac, Serbia) has suggested that biodeteriorants actually include 8 species of fungi, the following of which have been determined: Alternaria alternata, Aspergillus flavus, A. glaucus, Aerobasidium pululans, Cladosporium cladosporoides, Mucor mucedo, Penicillium chrysogenum and P. verrucosum var. cyclopium. The research has shown that the fungicidal effect has increased by combining two different preservatives. The synergistic action of Na-benzoate and K-sorbate can suppress more or less effectively the development of all of the tested species, completely inhibiting Aspergillus flavus. K-sorbate and K-propionate have a significant inhibitory effect on Aspergillus flavus and a partial effect on Aspergillus glaucus and Penicillium chrysogenum. Na-benzoate and K-propionate are effective only against Cladosporium cladosporoides.
