[Some problems of propagation by seeds of gooseberry in the Novosibirsk Region]
2008
Eremina, E.V., Siberia Research and Development Institute of Plant Breeding and Selection, Novosibirsk Region (Russian Federation)
The seeds of gooseberry varietes Smena, Komandor and Seyanets Spirina were collected and sown in 1998, 2004 and 2005 years in the Novosibirsk Region. The average seed germinbility was 4% at autumn sowing. It raised to 6% at late summer sowing. It is hypothesized that average seed germinbility is reduced according the origin of cultivars and their less strong relation to wild-growing species. Gooseberry seed germination on the second year after sowing was not observed. Negative correlation between spring atmospheric precipitations and quantity of seedlings was determined. The possibility to increase seed germinability by sowing berries with seeds is developed. The best meaning of germination of the variety Smena is observed after soaking in the preparation Silk. The germinability increased on 28% in compare with the control one.
